Love, Live, Laugh–Date Night

Well, that was quick! In my 35 by 35 post, I mentioned that I would like to have monthly date nights with my husband. I haven’t even mentioned this to him yet nor am I even certain he reads this blog, but God grants us the desires of our hearts. Last night, my husband and I had the opportunity to laugh out loud and be a bit carefree as we went to see Kevin Hart, one of our favorite comedian/actors perform.

Now, to know me is to know that I have a love of Kevin Hart. To know my husband is to know that he enjoys laughter (and magic). For his birthday (February), I surprised him with tickets to the Kevin Hart show which was coming to DC in August. I thought I’d purchased tickets for Friday only to realize rather quickly that I purchased them for Thursday instead. Not a big deal as I am certainly up for mid-week excursions. But I have to admit that, as I write this a day later, I am exhausted.

Yeah…like gone exhausted…

After a full day of work yesterday, I came home to get ready for the show and to prep the kids for dinner and bedtime. I was to meet FatherWinter at his office since it’s within walking distance of the venue. Superbug was a bit sad when I told him that he wasn’t going to be able to join us. He loves hanging with his mother and I love that, especially knowing that he’ll be a teen before I know it and may not experience the same. When I left him, he was in PJs with a sad face. Meanwhile Honeybee was so good to go with her Nana and her Honey Nut Cheerios snack.

After FatherWinter and I linked up, we arrived at the venue to find a line stretched around the building. Fortunately for us, we stepped in the line that moved quickly and were in after a couple of minutes. The show was enjoyable. Kevin Hart’s opening act were “The Plastic Cup Boyz”. I liked them. One was extremely funny. He had me nodding in agreement with his antics. The second act was also enjoyable. The last one. Well, it wasn’t that he wasn’t funny. It was just he played on the stereotypes and I’m not much of a fan for those.

Kevin Hart was, of course, very funny. There was one set where I couldn’t catch my breath because I was laughing so hard with tears streaming down my face. I haven’t laughed that hard in a long time and I really needed it. I’m sorry there are no pictures, but Kevin’s team was super strict with a no video or phone policy. If security saw you with one during the show, you were immediately escorted out without a refund. Not taking a chance on that one at all.

FatherWinter and I didn’t get back into the house until 1AM. Guess who had the day off and guess who didn’t? Yep, I had a meeting at 0900 scheduled, but needed to be in my office at 0700. Can I tell you how much that alarm clock kicked my butt this morning?!

Lol.

Have a great evening!!
