date night Weekend Recap

Weekend Recap: Movies, Away

Hi Guys! I wish I could say we had this amazing and magical weekend, but it was pretty chill. I’d originally planned to bring this great post about a planned company day at the local amusement park, but it was rained out and the company cancelled. That meant Bug’s baseball game was also cancelled, which meant we were pretty much loungers most of the day Saturday.

We did wake up in time to catch a few minutes of footage from the Royal Wedding. It was a beautiful ceremony and Meghan looked beautiful, as did her mother. Just a side note, I feel like I want to give Meghan’s mom, Doris, a huge hug. Doesn’t she just exude strength and grace?

Any who, after the wedding watching was over S. and I decided to take advantage of a Parents Night Out event and go on our monthly date night. I’m secretly pretty pleased that he has been keeping pace with my Christmas “wow list” request to spend more one on one time with each other in the form of date nights. He and I are both fans of superhero movies, so we decided to catch Avengers: Infinity Wars.

We got the kids ready (who were super excited since they love Parents Night Out), dropped them off, and made our way to the theatre for some Marvel™ madness. The movie was pretty good. A lot of my friends overhyped the movie telling us how shocked we’d be at the end. I was a comic book fan and have been keeping my ear to the sidewalk as they say. I knew there would be some shocking stuff. I won’t tell the movie for those who haven’t seen it, but I am kind of disappointed. The way it ended didn’t leave me too enthusiastic for the follow-on, but we’ll see what happens. S. and I are, however, super excited to see Incredibles 2 in a few weeks. That one will be a family trip I think.

Sunday morning, we got up and made our way to church where Pastor preached on ‘The Power of Love’—a nod to the Royal Wedding and a comparison of that wedding to the Great Marriage of Jesus to His Church and the Wedding Feast thereafter. It really was a great message.

Coming home, the mail lady stated she had a package for me (I love that the mail delivers on Sundays here). It was addressed to S. so I just bought it in and let it lay for a while. It turns out that it was a power hedge trimmer which we were in dire need off. I forgot to take pictures of what my yard looked like after 1.5 weeks of continual rain, but “jungle” wouldn’t have been far off. The bush by our garage now loomed like some kind of green mountain and needed some TLC quick. I mentioned to S. that I was going to have to purchase one and I think he heard me. An hour later, the yard looked pretty decent. We still have some weeding to do, but it’s going in the right direction.

I wrapped up the evening slow cooking my Crock pot Ribs for dinner tonight. I’m adding baked beans and corn on the cob for a yummy dinner. So, that’s our weekend. I told you it was pretty chill.

I’ll write you again soon and have a very great day!
