Weekend Recap: Family Fun at Kings Dominion (A Bucket List Item!)

Hi everyone!  You may remember a couple of weeks ago I posted our Summer Bucket List and shared that I hoped we would be able to check off quite a few items.  Well, it just so happens that it exactly what happened!

Coincidence would have it that my office decided to host a Company sponsored family fun day at Kings Dominion in Doswell, VA.  Kings Dominion is a favorite amusement park of mine and there is always so much to do for everyone.  Every family member has their favorite thing about the park.  Honeybee loves Planet Snoopy.  Bug loves Soak City.  S. loves the funnel cakes.  I love the people watching.  When the company sent out the email to see if any of the employees were interested, you know that out family was ALL in!

We arrived about an hour after the park opened and ended up staying until about an hour before it closed.  What a fun and LONG day!

First things, first I had the kids pose for their obligatory family photo (which also serves the purpose of security should I ever need it).  Afterwards, we headed to the height check so that we could see how much Honeybee and Bug had grown. That was interesting.

Our Honeybee was still 36 inches.  There were quite a few rides she wasn’t able to indulge in, but thankfully Planet Snoopy caters to her size and that was quite sufficient.  Bug, on the other hand, had a growth spurt.  He was in the 48 inch realm during the last visit a little over a year ago.  This time he was 56 inches and could ride every ride in the park!  He was super excited about that!

We headed over to let Honeybee ride a couple of the attractions before visiting the carousel as a family.

After the carousel ride, it was time to grab a bite to eat.  We headed over to the catering pavilion and ate yummy cheeseburgers and hotdogs, chips, cookies, and drinks all courtesy of the amusement park catering company and our company’s summer fling.  It was a nice respite from walking, but after a while it was time to get back to it.  We decided to head to Soak City because the heat of the day was upon us.  We definitely needed some water time.  We definitely got it.

After sploshing, splashing, and having a ball, we finally left the pool area to knock out a couple of rides.  The kids were thrilled and Honeybee was able to ride with her Daddy or I.  Bug rode several coasters including one big one that completely tuckered him out.  It was a really great day.

We finished our day with our family favorite when at the park..funnel cake!  It was super yummy despite my not getting pictures of it.  By then, it was pushing beyond time to go and baby A. was letting us know it. The boys caught one more coaster while Honeybee, baby A. and I rested.  Then, it was time to say goodbye.  The kids were sleep before we even left the parking lot.  No one complained about that!

It was an awesome way to spend the weekend and I’m so very thankful to be able to do it with such awesome people.

Have a great day everyone.  I’ll be talking to you again soon.
