2018 baby A. birthday birthday updates Summer 2018

Baby A.’s Birthday Party Recap (plus End of Summer Bash!)

So, I’m not sure what I was thinking when I agreed to go with my husband on a couples’ vacation, only to return and host an annual party that would feature our daughter’s first birthday party exactly two days later.

Lesson learned. I don’t think I’ll try that again. Fortunately, everything seemed to fall into place exactly as it should have…despite being a bit crazy.  Now, let’s discuss the party!
First, I promised myself that I wouldn’t go crazy with the planning of this event.  I didn’t.  I kept the decor very simple. Since we do an annual Summer Bash, we combined the bash and party to join one big event.  I turned one room into a birthday staging area for the cupcakes and birthday cakes and, though we told everyone that gifts were not necessary, used the sitting room for the generous gifts that our guests bought baby A. anyway.  I used Evite as my mode of invite and Oriental Trading to ship a few decorations.  The result was beautiful.

If you’ve followed the blog for any amount of time, you know we have a LOT of family.  S. has a lot of siblings, siblings in love, and there are 21 grandchildren!  Add to that family from my side and mutual friends and there were about 40 people at the house!!  Because there was such a mix of children, we were able to lock on two moon bounces for a really good price.  The younger guests, of whom there were about a dozen, had the little moon bounce to play in.  While the elder children and adults had the larger one.  We were a bit concerned because there were a few rain storms, but after they passed, the kids were out and having a great time!

I have to say my favorite portion of the evening had to be the baby eating her birthday cake. We were very fortunate!  The baker who baked baby A.’s cake has made amazing creations for our family for years.  I simply sent her a picture of something I thought would make a beautiful cake and she executed it flawlessly!  She really does amazing work!

When we started, she politely picked at the cake with her fingers.  I turned my back for a couple of seconds to assist one of the guests and the next pictures happened…

Pretty sure that means she likes it lol

In the end, it was a great event.  The guests enjoyed themselves.  The kids had a blast and baby A., after eating her smash cake, popped a pacifier in her mouth and went immediately to sleep.  It was a great evening!!
