2018 Fall 2018 November 2018 thankful tree

A Month of Gratitude

Hello everyone!  Happy November 1st.  This month is truly special.  There are a lot of wonderful things we are hoping and expecting to happen.  It’s National Adoption Month.  It’s “I’m Grateful” month.  It’s the month we walk toward expanding our family via FET.  Wow…We have a lot going on.  So let’s talk about it!

National Adoption Month.  This month our family reflects on the miracle that is our Honeybee and her adoption story. The agency through which we adopted our daughter will have a number of events raising awareness and celebrating forever families.   We will also participate in events that aid those who have not yet had the opportunity to have their forever home–birth or adoption.  I’ll be sharing a few blog posts this months of some really great adoption books and some reflections of our journey to forever with our Bee.

“I’m Grateful Month”.  Our church has been celebrating I’m Grateful Month for as long as I can remember being in this area.  It’s an opportunity to focus solely on thanking God.  We thank Him for who He is. We thank Him for the birth of His Son, Jesus.  We thank Him for being God all by Himself.  While there are plenty of material things we can thank Him for, we focus instead on those intangibles–health, love, freedom, peace.  It’s a beautiful time to reflect and I am looking forward to it this month.

Like last year, our family will be sharing our blessings on the “Thankful Tree“.  The children really enjoyed it last year and I enjoyed seeing it come to fruition.  I hope this year’s tree can be equally as beautiful.

Thankful Tree

Greatest Homecoming on Earth (#GHOE).  I am a proud of graduate of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, the nation’s largest Historically Black College and University.  Every year, the university hosts its homecoming inviting alumni, friends, family, and supporters to return to the city and campus for a weekend of food, family, fellowship, and FOOTBALL!  It’s usually held in October, but this year’s schedule has it in November.  It’s been 3 years since my last visit.  I’m looking forward to taking S. with me to soak up some Aggie Pride.

Operation FET.  This month, should everything go well, we will begin the process of expanding the family through assisted reproductive technology.  In other words, we’re starting our frozen embryo transfer.  I am hoping we will be one of the lucky families that get a successful pregnancy and healthy baby on the first try, but only God will know how that goes.  In the mean time, I am prepping myself to get ready for new shots and timelines.  Keep us in your prayers.  We’ll make sure to keep you updated.

Not quite this much, but you get the idea.  FET #1 starts November 2018

Thanksgiving.  It’s one of my favorite holidays.  It’s an opportunity for everyone to spend time with the family, to eat good food, to watch football, and most importantly–give thanks for everything that God has done for us.  It’s going to be bittersweet with my mother in love not being here, but I hope her spirit will be felt in every part of this holiday.

Mental Wellness Challenge.  I am always up for a good challenge.  When my friend posted the 20-day mental wellness challenge, I was all in.   It’s a series of modifications to the status quo designed to help you succeed in life.  The challenge starts today and ends November 20th.  I will do my best to complete the challenge and document my success while doing so.  Here’s hoping great things.

Well guys, that’s about it!  I hope November will be a blessed month for you.  I’m claiming it as such for us.  Keep smiling and keep moving forward.  I’ll talk to you soon!
