Friday evening, S. and Bug loaded up the car and headed to a Men’s Fellowship Lock-in at one of the neighboring churches in the community. I’m told there were over 200 men there and Bug told me later he had the BEST time. How awesome is it that my 12 year old son was excited and enjoyed talking about God and being/becoming a Godly man in Christ. While the men were away, the girls and I snuggled up watching Frozen and Ice Age because Baby A. wasn’t feeling so peppy. We watched the movies until it was bedtime and both girls snuggled in the bed with Mama until they couldn’t keep their eyes open. I then let them go to their beds. It was an awesome way to end the evening.
Saturday morning, everyone was up early. I gave the girls pastries with the intent of having a breakfast date out after my social media ministry meeting at the church. When we got there, our ministry leader had purchased hotcakes and juices for the entire ministry. That was so sweet of her. The girls enjoyed hashbrowns, juices, and pancakes while we discussed upcoming social media activities for the church. February will be a busy month!

Breakfast and brainstorming! Got to love it! |
Our church was also hosting a food giveaway event for furloughed government employees and contractors. Since the furlough was over and additional food remained, the event was opened to the public and it was such a blessing to see the people benefiting from the kindness of strangers. Things like this make me think there is hope for humanity after all. I promise there are days this world can look a bit bleak. It was great to see the spirit of love being shared to so many.
Meeting over and done, I was preparing to leave the church with the girls when…the sole of my boots broke!!! I’ve only worn these boots for about three months! I was so disappointed. The sole was so disintegrated that there was no way I could walk in the boots, let alone drive, so I did the next best thing. I drove in sock feet!

Anyway we can make it work, we will |
The girls were now clamoring for food again (no surprise there as it was getting late), so I swung by Chick-Fil-A for a quick meal for everyone. I even indulged my sweet tooth because I was seriously craving something cookie and creamy lol. We made it back to the house without incident and ate our food and it wasn’t long before nap time was calling. Awesome. I laid the girls down and had an hour and a half to get some quiet time and house work done. YAY ME!!!!

Mmm, milkshakes… |
After everyone was up later, I took the girls with me to my good sister-friend’s home while she straightened my hair. (BLESS YOU). I couldn’t do it because I’m just NOT good at doing my own complete straightening. While there, one of our mutual friends showed up and he, her husband, she, and I had great discussion about marriages and the different seasons and points of view in them. It was so awesome that we are planning a couple’s retreat where we can do something like that again. I’m really excited about it and can’t wait to share more when it happens!
We were fast asleep when the men finally came home, but Bug told me later that he had a really enjoyable time just hanging with his dad. Aww. I love that!

Ignore the tears. They were after I had a slight morning sickness episode. But I still felt cute lol. |
Sunday morning, I was up super early as we had early morning church service. I made it to the church right on time and was super excited to sing. I love my choir members and I love being able to sing praised to God with them. I am always thankful that God allows me to sing songs of praise and worship to Him. It is the absolute least I could do for all that He has done for me and my family. It was a beautiful service and a beautiful time. BUT there was a…bump…in the day.
Last Tuesday, I was quite ill at one of our rehearsals. The morning sickness was not my friend and I had to leave the floor a couple of times and pull over off the road going home because baby bean was just NOT happy with me. One of my fellow altos noticed and mentioned to her mother that she believed I may be expecting. On yesterday, the same alto asked me in private if I was. I informed her that I was, thanked her after she gave congratulations, and explained that S. and I were being selective in telling people for a couple of more weeks at least. We wouldn’t deny if asked outright, but we wanted to announce when we were ready. She was fine with that. Well, as luck would have it, her mother saw me later in the morning and announced loudly in the church foyer that she was so happy for me and congratulations. She also stated how she was a bit disappointed that I hadn’t shared the news with her. Again, this was loud and in proximity to other members who aren’t known for their discretion. Sigh… I quickly shushed her mother (who meant no harm) and informed her that yes I was, but wanted to keep it quiet for now as per S. and my desire to share when we were ready. Alas, the damage was done. By day’s end, we were receiving several congratulations. It seems the cat is out of the bag. Sigh. I’ll probably do another cute announcement post at some point, but yeah…
We did go home and have great food and movie time, so there’s a huge win for the weekend. How was yours? What did you do?
