Last Friday evening, I bid adieu to my colleagues, packed my trunk with a few gifts that my kind and awesome co-workers surprised me with, and drove away with the knowledge that it would be 1 October before I came again. Maternity leave had begun…sort of.
Because the network credentials hadn’t yet been established for my temp, I agreed to be available as needed for the next week to help meetings go smoothly and do some backup to the temp fill. I like my temp by the way, a really great person whom I hope can be made permanent upon my return.
Anyway, after checking in yesterday and managing a few minor things, I closed the rest of the day and went to my doctor for my weekly doctor appointment. I am currently 50% effaced and 1.5 cm dilated. For those of you who aren’t familiar with cervical effacement and dilation, visit this link and view the graphic. It’s pretty helpful. The cervix must be 100% effaced and 10 cm dilated before the baby can make it into the world.
Yesterday, I went in for my weekly sonogram. Little one is squished against my uterus and the pictures are adorable because there is limited room. I have a 4D picture that shows that baby has my nose. The first of all of my kids to have a nose like mine. Bug still hopes it is a boy.
I am terribly behind on getting stuffed prepped. I haven’t finished packing my labor bag. I haven’t finished freezer meals. I have errands to do that I don’t feel like doing. I hurt. I’m cranky. I’m grumpy. I’m tired.
I purposely took a week before my due date this time because I didn’t feel like I didn’t have time to rest prior. Nope. With ALL of the kids here during maternity leave, I haven’t been able to rest at all. I am cooking, cleaning, running kids to practice and lessons. The baby has dropped and I feel like I’m walking with a bowling ball. AND Baby A. has a cold…which she has shared with me.
Sigh. I won’t do this again.
Pray for me guys.
