This weekend was our annual Fantasy Football Draft and Potluck. It was such a great time!
As with previous years, we made sure to get a bit of entertainment for all of the kids we had. The moon bounce was such a hit that neighbors in the community that we’d not had the chance to meet yet asked if they and their children could come through. Absolutely! The more, the merrier.
We had a smaller one in the backyard for the smaller kids and that kept everyone’s attention until the video game truck came. Yep, the kids had a ball. They didn’t stop playing until well after sundown. Money well spent!
This year we introduced a surprise to the fantasy football participants. A trophy! By popular demand, the trophy will be kept at the winners house until the end of the season. Since I won last year, the trophy resides with me until December (unless I win again…which I hope to do). The trophy will be engraved with the winners’ names every year. All of the players loved the new addition and once again, I’m the only female playing! I have to represent for the lady players out there!
One thing we always do is provide tons of food. This time there were 35 guests and that didn’t include our core family. S. grilled hamburgers and hotdogs. I made crockpot meatballs, crockpot ribs, baked beans, corn on the cob, and my mom’s mac and cheese recipe (with a few modifications). The mac and cheese is a favorite of the family and it went very quick. A word of caution though. It has four cheeses and is loaded with dairy. This isn’t for those who have a lactose issue.
The draft started at 7PM and our last guest left about 2AM. It was such a great evening. The next day was even more so as everyone took the time to rest and spend time together. The kids got uninterrupted time with their brother and everyone loved that.
It was a perfect way to end the weekend. Friends, family, and fun. Nothing better. Hope your weekend was equally as enjoyable.
