2020 Weekend Recap

Weekend Recap: Family Chill

Hi everyone! I hope you’ve had a fun and productive weekend.  Ours was ridiculously chill.  Not that I have any complaints with that at all.  I’m all for quiet weekends and this one was just that.

So, Friday morning started off quite interestingly.  As mentioned in our Friday Faves, both Honeybee and little A. had multiple episodes of vomiting.  A.’s was much more than Honeybee’s.  I ended up changing bed sheets and clothes quite a few times.  Sigh.  I knew this meant that the kids would be home on Friday because there was no way I was sending them to school like that. I woke up after minimum sleep with that #Motivation2020 mindset.  It was a day to smile no matter what.
Friday night, the kids were feeling better.  They hadn’t had an episode of vomiting since early morning..  Both kids talked about how hungry they were and they’d been running around all day.  It seemed like the perfect time to try a recipe I’d seen on my FB timeline…cookie bars.  These bars were made with cake mix, eggs, and chocolate chip cookies.  Man, did it turn out yummy.

Going in the oven

A quick and easy treat
The kids loved it and were excited to have chocolate chip cookies for dessert.  I paired it with my Slow Cooker BBQ Chicken and corn on the cob.  Everything was devoured and nothing returned (if you catch my drift).  I count that a win!!
After dinner, S., the kids, and I gathered ourselves in the family room for Game Night. Tonight we picked Bug’s Christmas gift to the family–Life.  I LOVED this game growing up.  It was a favorite and the source of so much laughter. The game we played Friday had a couple of changes since I was a little girl, but we enjoyed ourselves nonetheless.  S. won.  Bug came in second.  It was such a fun time and I look forward to playing it again.
I promise you we had such a great time.  We didn’t go to sleep until close to 1.  I love spending time with my family!

The game of Life…

Saturday morning, we woke up to a dusting of snow covering our patio. I wasn’t surprised as the weather persons were pretty clear that we’d see something. However, I didn’t tell the littles that snow was in the forecast just in case they didn’t see anything. I have to admit it was pretty cool seeing their faces light up when they looked out the window.

What a pretty sight!
The snow continued for a couple of hours, but it’d been so warm the days prior that there was no danger of it sticking.  With the cold weather that turned into rain, we decided to stay in the house and enjoy movie time as a family.
He was all in for movie time.

We watched several movies and then got ready for Sunday morning.  You already know Sundays are HUGE in our family.  We rested well and then got up for Sunday morning services.

We had a quick breakfast of breakfast sandwiches and fruit.  Then we got ourselves together and made our way to church.  Service was wonderful and focused on possibilties even when things look impossible.  Pastor spoke of failure not being failure until you quit.  I absolutely agree with that.
After church was over, we came home and watched the game.  I was pleasantly surprised to see that Superbowl will be the 49rs v the Chiefs.  That’s going to be a good game.  I am especially excited that it won’t feature the Patriots again, but I’m not a big Patriots fan at all.
After the game was over, the family enjoyed another Christmas gift.  It’s the 365 Connecting Questions for families.  Each day you get a new question and you and the family ask and discuss it.  Yesterday’s question was which weather were we most like and why.  I’m definitely a sunshine girl though S. believes I am more of a mild.  I highly recommend the book.  We’ve had some really interesting conversations and I’ve enjoyed each and every one of them.

That’s pretty much our weekend.  Hope yours was equally as chill.  The weather is supposed to be improving soon, so we’re looking forward to sharing some out and about stuff with you soon!
Have a great day!
-K
