Hi everyone! I hope you are all having an amazing week. I’m linking with A Little Bit of Everything and Momfessionals for a Friday Favorites share.
This week has been beyond busy. I turned in final exams for two classes only to start three more. I’ve been paper outlining, video shooting, and so much more. Not to mention going into the office 😰 for a meeting and then going to a doctor’s appointment to check on the progress of Baby Bean. Somewhere along the way, I realized that July is really moving fast and I needed to lock on some birthday plans for Baby J’s 1st birthday, Baby A’s 3rd birthday, and Bug’s 14th. Even in COVID, this will be interesting. Fortunately for me, I got turned on to a fantastic cookie artist early in the pandemic, and was able to reach out to her for some awesome designs. I also reached out to one of my favorite confectioner for 40th birthday plans for myself. It’s beginning to look like presents around here.
COVID definitely put a cancellation on my 40th birthday plans. I didn’t want anything major, but S. had convinced me that it would be nice to have a party where everyone could celebrate together. With the pandemic still going strong, it made sense to cancel. My introvert is totally okay with that, but I admit I do want a few things to make me feel special. So, I reached out to my confectioner, Sweet D Treats, and asked her to please make me a half dozen chocolate dipped strawberries and two cake pops. Her pops are AMAZING. Heck, everything she makes is amazing. I can hardly wait to try them.

Her Father’s Day yummies! |
Because sweets are kind of my thing, even in this pregnancy, I wanted to do something fun. I rarely make a big deal out of my birthday thanks to the introvert in me. This year I really want something a little special. It’s not every day a person turns 40! So, I reached out to the same cookie artist who did the unicorn and rainbow kit for the girls at the beginning of the pandemic. Sugar Me Sweets Baking is a definite find and I will be using them often! We brainstormed a bit and came up with something like the below. I’m so excited to see the final product.

While I was conferring with Sugar Me Sweets, I realized that I hadn’t thought too much about Baby J’s upcoming. We would usually combine his birthday with the Fantasy Football Draft/End of Summer Bash that we hold annually, but with COVID resurgence, it’s not looking like it will happen on that scale this year. So, I’m perfectly fine with having a small birthday party at the house with the just our core family and my father in law if he is available. Nothing major. Cake and icecream with a big balloon to keep his attention and a couple of gifts. He won’t be too pressed either way. I discussed all of this with the cookie artist and we came up with something like this…complete with BEARS colors.

Not to be outdone, we decided to design something for A’s birthday. It’s hard to believe she is turning 3 at the end of August! That’s coming much quicker than I planned. Little A. is all things Minnie Mouse just like her sister before her. So, it wasn’t too hard to figure out a fun cookie that will make her smile and fill her with joy on her day. I can hardly wait to see her little face. Though we don’t go big for non-milestone birthdays, I want to do a Minnie Mouse cake and vanilla icecream for her.

I haven’t designed the ones for Bug yet. But we are leaning towards his love of Transformers and cooking. It will be interesting to see how nice those come out. The crazy thing is he will be a freshman in high school, albeit virtually and won’t be able to even do a pizza night with his buddies. No worries though. If things slow down, we’ll at least be able to celebrate with cousins. I’m hoping his day will be very special.

If we don’t do Transformers, maybe we’ll go a bit simpler. We still have time. |
So, here are my Friday Faves. I’m super excited for all the birthdays that are headed our way. I genuinely hope everyone feels special on their day.
Have a great weekend!
